Welcome to the Mind Body Syndrome/Tension Myositis Syndrome Educational program developed by Howard Schubiner, MD ( Dr. Schubiner’s email is howard.schubiner@stjohn.org His website for more information is www.yourpainisreal.com ) It hurts. Your pain is awful, and you can’t get rid of it. You went to your doctor and he told you that you had a medical condition. The diagnosis was back or neck pain presumably due to arthritis, a bulging disk or spinal stenosis. Or the diagnosis was tension headaches or migraine headaches. Or fibromyalgia or whiplash or chronic tendonitis. Or it might have been stomach pains or pelvic pains with diagnoses of irritable bowel syndrome or interstitial cystitis. Your doctor prescribed drugs. You took them and they didn’t really help. Maybe you even had surgery, but that didn’t help either. So you decided to explore alternative medicine. Maybe you took herbal remedies, vitamins or saw a chiropractor. You’re considering acupuncture, hypnosis, even crystals. But still the pain is there. You get the impression that your doctor doesn’t really know how to help you or understand you. Maybe your doctor referred you to a psychiatrist or psychologist, suggesting that your pain isn’t real, that it’s all in your head. But you’re not imagining or making up the pain. The pain is in your body and it is real. It’s real. But the problem is your diagnosis. If your diagnosis is wrong, you can’t get better. You may not have a serious disease. But you do have a …

For three years now ive been with pain in my legs that comes and goes with the time of day. This information is workable. Thanks
Okay 95% is subconscious 11million bits subconscious vs 40 conscious what’s wrong with that statistic???!!!
That would be 99.999996% subconsious.
but what about injuries?
5 out of 5 stars!
Brilliant!
Thank you for this video:)
Thank you for sharing your experience Lotus, I am so happy for you:)!!
This is so basic. I guess it’s good info for people who have never studied or even thought about Transactional Analysis, which was popular in the 60’s.
I suffered with extreme “Fibromyalgia” for 6 years. I was in pain 24 hours a day and had loss and numbness down my legs, in my back, base of my skull, shooting pain in my feet, etc.
I found out about Mind-Body healing about a year and a half ago. I did the mental work, went to a therapist who specializes in TMS/ AOS.
I have been pain free for about a year and never even think about it anymore or am limited physically.
This is VERY real, I am living proof.
I think he meant they are socially expected to be caring.
Nice Video. Check out TubeViews (dotnet) If you need your video exposed, It has really helped me a bunch. Be blessed!
I like what i watched.
I agree 100% , first of all think about all these poeple who do “POWERLIFTING”, I mean you see this poeple lifting over 500 lbs Squating over 800 lbs and they do this over and over again on a daily basis. I know, because i go to a Gym. Also think about the actor Jackie Chang who does his own incredible stungs and has broken almost every bone in his body including his back and you still see him making movies and he’s fine. I agree with this Doctor.
Hi SugarBabyUK
I think Dr. Schubiner would agree that much pain has a physiologic explanation. He really emphasizes that his practice should only be followed after the those physical causes have been eliminated as possible sources for the pain.
MBS disregards the fact that some pain manifests itself from INJURY. How would it explain this, as this stress model doesn’t. It only explain chronic illness.
I want to know more!
well you see for woman, it’s pretty much who they make themselve’s to be.
to give you and honest opinion men and woman have pretty much the same intelligence field, but when it comes to genderhood, we creat this patern that makes us look like where bad and nice.
I had tms manifest itself as debilitating back pain. Worst pain of my life. Read Dr. Sarno’s books and saw him, did treatment plan (Not surgery), am 100% recovered. The brain is very powerful in reacting to emotions and creating physical conditions and pain. This clip is a good explanation–especially about conditioning (Pavlov’s dogs).
Excelent.
I disagree with this statement however- “women are nicer, they are more caring”
Your explanation was outstanding! Extremely interesting.
i went to see dr shubiner when i was on 180mgs of morphine, out of it and still in pain 24/7
I took his 3 workshops and by the time i got done the third week the pain left my lower spine, settle in my neck and shoulder for about a week and then all my pain was gone.
ITS AMAZING, read Dr Sarnos book and if it doesnt ring a bell then go no farher, but if it does take Dr, Shubiners course
I suffered back pain for years and went to a pain clinic where the doctors answer was morphine I was more and more dependant on morphine and still in pain 24/7
i went to see Dr, Shubiner and he said i had TSM, I took his workshops and i was AMAZED.
After the first workshop my pain left my lower spine and moved to my neck and shoulder in which the doc said, thats good, I just shook my head and hoped he wasnt a quack.
by the time i took the 3 workshops my pain was gone, its amazing.
do you have TMS?
how can I get the full lecture?
A great explanation of the “how” of TMS and mind-body pain syndromes.
