What motivates these quiet, ageing folk to travel to some of the most inhospitable parts of the globe, to treat terrible diseases like leprosy, to help those most in need? Is there an argument for “civilising” Africans? Do they really need to live in brick houses? Whatever your religion, it’s hard not to be impressed by these brave foot-soldiers of God.

Even Whites have sympathy for their fellow human beings, unless they are made to believe (by the media) that some lives are less worth. The majority of white people are no worse than anyone of us, Let’s not utter words of hatred in frustration. What’s stolen from us only benefits western corporates and African facilitators. Why are they killing each other? they are all black! It’s very simplistic to see it in that ‘light’. Isn’t war always about gaining power by force. If I recollect history right the Germans were not green and the English red. What’s the difference in brutality between chopping someone’s head off with a machete or dropping a nuclear bomb? The colonial legacy is part of the explanation. It doesn’t mean we blame all white people. We blame the greedy insatiable capitalist system in the world.

The US needs to crash the commonwealth and EU be aligning w/BRIC nations. The monetized debt pyramid is crashing anyway under its own weight. It is by now only licenced looting and plundering. The decimation of Afrika is a leading indicator and shows what we are all a part of. An entirely new system is required. The US must lead the way by nationalizing the banking system. bi-lateral trade and congressional issuance of credit for US and other nations based on humane infrastructural growth.

I agree that the DRC MUST be allowed to reorganise into three or more independent countries or a confederation.Imagine a country more than 30% the size of the US.But has no phone,roads,rail or capable army to enforce governance!The vacuum of no government is easily filled by oppurtunistic rebel commanders.
Missionaries helping to bring aid to these people is no doubt an incredibly important thing, but doing so while spreading the word of the bible is not. Many of these people have cultural and religious traditions that need to be nourished and protected fore any future identity could be lost. The true way to nourish these people is not through the word of a western god, but rather to educate them on the moral betterment of their futures. Hope springs eternal. These struggles can be overcome.

any missionary working in the DRC and equatorial africa has my support. I was in the DRC and cried for that country. People like JP bemba are the usual african despots suffering from big man syndrome…Honestly the DRC should be divided into two or three..whether the congolese like it or not..that country is too messed up..I see congolese praise Mobutu and I feel so sad for africans:we don’t have enough outrage to change our continent!!
